DALLASMedSynergies Inc., the leading provider of hospital-physician alignment solutions, today announced the appointment of Ivo Nelson, founder and chairman of Encore Health Resources, to the company’s development advisory board.

Formed in February 2009, the development advisory board facilitates growth and advises MedSynergies on strategic operational and development initiatives. New appointments are made based on recommendations by MedSynergies’ board members and development advisory board members.

Nelson will join current development advisory board members, including:

  • Bob Thornton, retired vice chairman and board member of JPMorgan Chase
  • Charles Jarvie, chairman of Equity Appreciation Partners
  • Dennis Berman, founder and chairman of Trivac, Ltd.
  • J.D. Carreker, Jr., director of strategic payments initiatives of Fiserv, formerly Checkfree
  • Joe Boyd, chairman of MedSynergies
  • Dr. William Hutton, chairman emeritus of MedSynergies

“The members' depth of experience contributes to enhancing MedSynergies' overall operations and best practices,” said Joe Boyd, chairman of the board of MedSynergies. “The development advisory board also provides valuable health care industry insight to our organization.”

Prior to founding Encore, Nelson led IBM's global health care provider business, served as CEO of Houston-based Healthlink, which was purchased by IBM in 2005, and held leadership roles at EDS and Perot Systems. Nelson is an active member in many health care IT industry associations, and has served as a former vice chair of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and past chairman of the Texas Institute for Health Policy Research.

“With more than 27 years of service in the health care industry, Nelson will bring a breadth of knowledge and leadership experience to our board,” said Bob Thornton, who leads the development advisory board. “His guidance will help MedSynergies grow its hospital-physician alignment initiative, as well as successfully navigate and provide industry-leading solutions for the impending challenges of health care reform.”

In addition to building some of the largest outsourcing and consulting firms in the United States, Nelson developed health care businesses in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. His broad range of experience has allowed him to gain a global understanding of health care issues and link the common threads of solutions and skills to improve health care delivery worldwide.
